Assuming you already have data entry jobs lined up for yourself, this article talks about how you, as a home-based data entry operator, can earn a lot more while working a lot less. Tips from seasoned data entry professionals and actual employers of data entry work from home operators.

TIPS for earning more and working less in your data entry home job:

1. Start on your data entry work early in the day. I often start first thing in the morning while I have my coffee. This simple solution gives you two big advantages: 1) you can knock out LOTS of data entry work before you’re even fully awake and 2) you’re using some of your best time, the time when you’re the most energetic and alert, to work. Doing this you’ll automatically get more done in less time so you have more time for other things later in the day, like playing.

2. Discipline yourself to sacrifice typing speed, if necessary, to reduce errors. Some data entry operators, especially those of us who have other things to do and want to hurry up and finish our work fast, type so fast we make tiny mistakes and have to go back and correct them. You will be surprised how much time you lose by having to go back and insert or remove letters that don’t belong there. If you go too fast and skip over making these corrections so your data entry work is sloppy, you risk losing your whole job. Not smart. Take the time to type methodically, evenly, accurately. If you discipline yourself to do this you will automatically become a faster typist at the same time you get more data entry work done in less time because you don’t have to correct errors.

3. Use your software to take shortcuts. I’ve done most of my best data entry work in an old-fashioned, but effective database program. It’s not even Windows compatible. But it has features that let me ‘kick butt’ and getting a lot of data entry typing work done in a very short amount of time. If you want to work at home data entry getting more done in less time, you too, will want to find the right software, or learn these shortcuts in your current software, so you can take data entry shortcuts. Most of my data entry from home projects have been mailing lists or similar types of data entry projects. On some projects most of the addresses were in the same city, for example, so I’d enter right over the city field and fill it in later. It might take me ten seconds to do a ‘mass replace’ and fill in the city on thousands of addresses, while it would have taken me hours to individually type each one in. Cut out unnecessary keystrokes and you’ll get more data entry done in less time. More data entry means more paycheck!

4. Concentrate. You will be surprised how much you’ll be slowed down by such things as interruptions or distractions that take your attention away from what you’re supposed to be doing: data entry. It sounds simple, but if you’re concentrating on being productive, you’ll be more productive.
